Montfort College brings the ‘A” levels to English Programme
by Damian Leong Head of EP (Foreign Affairs and CIE office) 27th July 2017
This is Montfort College’s 1st run of the Cambridge ‘A’ and ‘As’ level examinations including the Science Practicals. I am pleased to report that the examination has been running smoothly due to the cooperation of the staff, students and the support of the school.
Montfort College, Secondary Section Chiang Mai has been running the Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE examinations since 2015. This year marks the 1st time we are running the ‘A’ level examinations which are the litmus test for international entry to universities all over the world INCLUDING but not limited to USA, UK, Australia, Singapore and Canada.
We are planning to open this examination to private candidates who want to have an international benchmark to their learning.
In fact, we had a surprise inspection done on the 25th October 2017 from Cambridge with regards to our running of this internationally recognized examination; we cleared the inspection with “satisfactory”. The highest clearance is one above this “Very satisfactory”.
The inspector was very pleased with the overall running of the examination and said that although we are new to this, we followed the instructions as stipulated by Cambridge Examinations board; we are running the exams professionally. He also fed-back to us that we understood the rational for all that Cambridge required us to do. He encourages us to follow-up with our plans to become a private examinations centre for the Cambridge examinations. Both M. Pong and I are in the midst of planning for this for next year in April 2018.
This is a very brief summary of some regulations for the running Cambridge examinations.
